Into the Void
Got my Craft Robo back in action for some vector cut paper layouts, and here's the first; Into the Void. These triangles will be seen more, though a little bit fiddly, I like the effect.

Focus On Your Ability
So it's been a while... a long while since my last post. I've been learning, building, working, gardening, adventuring... lots of busyness!
So to just right back into it, a quick exercise in hierarchy and composition I created with LetterMpress, a fun app that imitates traditional letterpress techniques.
The lyrics come from Houdini by Foster the People, a fantastic song, and this statement makes for a great focal point.

Luna
Welllllll Happy 2011! Can't believe how quickly the first few months have already gone, but I have got lots to show and tell so i'll dive right in.
What we have here is a piece of decorative type inspired by my moon photography. It was designed a while ago as a possible book cover, but had to wait to get finished. Using Letraset Omnicrom sheets is ideal to give the image the silver shine I wanted it to have. It also has a grain quality that adds to the letter pressed look. I'm really happy to finally have it the way I want it! The Omnicrom sheets have added a bunch more ideas for projects (and a way to finish another), so I guess I should get going...

Today's composition draws inspiration from Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines books, which i'm currently reading.

Woodeye Furniture
Woodeye Furniture is a small company based in East Lothian specialising in bespoke furniture, kitchens and antique restoration.
I really enjoyed creating this piece and playing around with the typeface to make it unique to the brand. The furniture being produced has so much character, the logo is a continuation of its bold and distinctive style [really, this furniture is so impressive and has huge talent behind it].
I've done more reading than making recently so it was ace to get playing with type again. Gonna try and get more type work realised and up shortly!

Two-Face
Right then, My first post of 2010!
An isometric potrait of Two-Face from Batman The Animated Series. This started with a play around with some new graph paper and different levels of hatched triangles to create tonal compositions. Using the hatched triangles to draw Two-Face was a nice experiment and I think the style really suits the character, showing the disfigured side of Harvey Dent's face effectively.
